Material

Hydrocolloid dressing is a kind of elastic dressing made of pressure sensitive adhesive with CMC (carboxymethylcellulose) hydrophilic granules.

Main Mechanism
  • Hydrocolloid dressing inflates on thewound edge when it absorbs exudates which can prevent exudates from leaking.
  • Temperature on the wound area is almost same as the body temperature under the protection of hydrocolloid dressing.
  • Pain can be reduced because nerve terminals are in moist environment.
  • Generation of capillary vessel and growth of granulation tissue will be speeded up in anoxic environment.
Key Features
  • Excellent exudates absorption capability.
  • Keep the wound in a moist environment, promote wound healing, effectively release pains and reduce wound care frequency.
  • Waterproof, protect the wound from microbial invasion.
  • Excellent elasticith and self-adhesive, convenient and comfortable to wear.
  • Please change the dressing when it turns white.
  • Easy to peel off, no adherence to wound, so effectively reduce the potential damage and pains.
Cautions
  • Make sure the wound area is clean and dry before using dressing
  • Hydrocolloid dressing should be 2cm bigger than the wound area to make sure that dressing could be cover the wound.
  • lf the depth of wound is more than 5mm, it is better to fill the wound with proper material before using hydrocolloid dressing.
  • lt is not suitable for wounds with heavy exudates.
  • When the dressing becomes white and swelling, it indicates that dressing should be changed.
  • At the very beginning ofusing the dressing, wound area maybe enlarged, this is caused by the debridement function of the dressing and it is normal
    phenomenon.
  • The gel will be formed by the mixture of hydrocolloid molecule and exudates. As it looks like purulence secretion, it would be misunderstood as the wound infection. Just clean it with saline.
  • There maybe some smell from the dressing sometimes, and this smell could disappear after cleaning the wound with saline water.
  • Dressing should be changed at once when leakage occured around the dressing.

Gentle Hydrocolloid Wound Dressing

Product Highlights

Our hydrocolloid wound dressing offers a thin, flexible barrier that locks in moisture and protects against contaminants. Designed for low-to-moderate exuding wounds such as minor burns, cuts, and abrasions, this hydrocolloid wound dressing cushions the injury site to reduce pain and promote faster epithelialization.

Waterproof performance of the hydrocolloid dressing, effectively preventing moisture from entering and keeping the wound dry, suitable for daily activities.

Science Behind Hydrocolloid Wound Dressing

Moisture Retention & Gel Formation

When the hydrocolloid wound dressing contacts wound exudate, its hydrophilic particles swell and form a cohesive gel. This gel maintains an ideal moist environment, essential for cell migration and granulation, while preventing maceration of surrounding skin.

Barrier Protection

The semi-occlusive film of our hydrocolloid wound dressing shields the wound from bacteria and external irritants, reducing the risk of infection without compromising gas exchange.

Demonstrates how to properly use hydrocolloid dressing, clean the wound, and easily apply it, suitable for daily care.

Usage & Care Instructions

Preparation

  • Cleanse the wound gently with sterile saline.
  • Pat periwound skin dry.

Application

  • Select a hydrocolloid wound dressing that overlaps the wound margins by at least 1 cm.
  • Peel off the backing and center the dressing over the wound.
  • Smooth edges to ensure full adhesion.

You asked, we answered.

How often should hydrocolloid dressings be changed?

Silver dressings can continue to kill bacteria for up to 7 days.

However, we recommend changing them every 2-4 days to achieve better results.

You can also use them according to your doctor's advice.

How do I choose the right size?

hydrocolloid dressings should be 2cm/0.5in bigger than the wound area to make sure that dressing could cover skin completely.
